BORN

On October 7, 1984 in Houston, TX, Christopher Letchford began playing music at the age of 8 on saxophone, later leading on to bass and then guitar by age 13.

S C A L E T H E S U M M I T

Chris formed his instrumental band Scale The Summit in 2005 while attending Musicians Institute, since then they have released 6 studio albums, their most current “IN A WORLD OF FEAR” which came out May 2017. WEBSITE

 

TOURING

Chris tours full time his band Scale the Summit. Scale The Summit has had the pleasure of touring with Dream Theater, Zappa Plays Zappa, YES, Cynic, Devin Townsend, Between The Buried and Me, Fair To Midland, Periphery, 3, and Protest The Hero, to name a few.

 

SOLO ARTIST

Chris has released two solo albums. The first was “LIGHTBOX”, a jazz fusion instrumental album featuring members of The Reign Of Kindo (Steven Padin on drums and piano, Daniel Pizarro piano), Evan Brewer (The Faceless, Animosity) on bass. His second solo album was ISLNDS, an all acoustic guitar instrumental album featuring two guest vocalists Joey from The Reign Of Kindo and Ashe O'Hara (ex-Tesseract).

Chris has been featured in Guitar World Magazine 4 times, has written a lesson column in Premier Guitar Magazine, featured in Total Guitar Magazine, Prog Rock Magazine, Revolver Magazine, and more.

 

2011: LA Weekly named Chris Letchford #3 best metal guitarist under the age of 30.

 

2011: Metalsucks.net names Chris in their top 25 best modern metal guitarists.

2017: Music Radar names Chris in the top 12 best Prog Guitarists in the world.

EDUCATION 

Chris has acquired over 6 years of private guitar lessons, which were followed by enrollment in the Musicians Institute located in Los Angeles, CA as a GIT guitar major and in the GCA program. While in GCA, he learned how to construct and build his own custom, handmade guitars. He has also attended Berklee College of Music and Houston Community College as a music major.
